St. Catharines Sports Centre Boasts Gold Seal
As the steel structure nears completion on the new 5000-seat, multi-purpose Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, the excitement continues to build with the proud Ball/Rankin Construction team.
“It’s a Gold Seal project, the third Gold Seal project our firm’s been involved with,” touts Jason Ball, President of Ball Construction. “We delivered the first Gold Seal project in Ontario at the Perimeter Institute two years ago, and we haven’t looked back.”
The Gold Seal program was established in 1991 by the Canadian Construction Association to certify project managers, estimators, site superintendents, safety coordinators, and owners’ project managers. It is a significant program that elevates the workers’ and firm’s to commit to a higher standard of professionalism and workmanship. Ball was one of the leading supporters and drivers of the program.
“It’s so rewarding,” continues Jason. “Our firm has a great reputation province-wide, and is known for honesty and integrity, and that’s how you last 90 years.”
The St. Catharines Centre is a partnership between the City of St. Catharines and SMG Operations. It will be the home to many sports and entertainment events, including the Niagara IceDogs OHL hockey team.
Also of note, the building meets Facility Access Design Standards (FADS), making it fully handicapped-accessible and friendly.
The beautiful facility is on schedule to open in September 2014.
