Bill 69 Prompt Payment Act
Bill 69 was introduced in 2013 as a Private Member’s Bill into Queen’s Park. The Bill was based on the principles that provide various rights and remedies designed to support prompt payment. Unfortunately, after a year review and concerns from Private and Public Owners the Bill was dismissed in early May of 2014.
The Ontario Liberal government has now instructed the Attorney General’s Office to start a review of the Construction Lien Act. This review will touch on some of the basic principles of prompt payment and we hope the reform of the Construction Lien Act will protect all Contractors. At Ball Construction, we believe in open and fair communication with our clients and Trade Contractors. We are proud that we have a reputation of paying our Trades promptly. We hope that the Lien Act reform will legislate this practice for all Contractors.
