Team Ball Helps Celebrate Completion of Yardmen Arena
Ball Construction was pleased to be part of a celebratory evening on Nov. 4th marking completion of the Yardmen Arena Expansion and Renovation Project. The building is part of Belleville’s Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. The event involved dinner, a tour of the facility and tickets to see the Belleville Senators face off against the Charlotte Checkers.
Project director Mark Fluhrer, Belleville’s Director of Recreation, Culture & Community Services, served as informal host of the event.
The evening was the City’s way of thanking Ball Construction, Architecture49 and their strategic partners, WSP, and the project team who brought an AHL franchise to Belleville.
“Mayor Taso Christopher, City Councillors Garnet Thompson and Mike Graham, along with city staff and myself wanted to formally thank Ball—in particular Gary, Liviu, Kyle and Jon, as well as A49 and WSP and of course members of our project team—for all their hard work, dedication and perseverance to complete the project on time and on budget,” said Fluhrer.
As honoured guests, the contingent and their spouses were treated to a delicious meal at Shoeless Joe’s, a walk-around tour of the Yardmen facility as it functioned under an event situation, followed by the game.
For Fluhrer, this really was a dream team: “With a guaranteed maximum price agreement, we ended up with a very unique approach to the project under construction management. That left a lot of flexibility in terms of working together and staying on time and on budget.”
Ultimately the home team lost the close contest 2-1. But this was offset by a strong sense of achievement and camaraderie evident amongst the guests throughout the evening.
