Smithville Arena Project Advances
Ball Construction has partnered once again with design experts, Architecture49, to develop and construct the much needed Multi-Use Recreation Site (MURS) in the Township of West Lincoln. The community is excited for this new facility, which will house an NHL-sized single pad arena with an attached community centre.
The complete building program will showcase a library, a wellness centre with bleacher seating for 200, an arena with seating for 450, six dressing rooms and two ancillary dressing rooms, an indoor walking track, a community room and meeting rooms, a playground, splash pad, custom-skateboard park, driveways and parking for 300 cars.
The decision to replace the existing and aging arena and community centre with the above mentioned amenities will undoubtedly inspire civic pride for the township and its growing community. Ball Construction has witnessed the satisfaction that a community centre can bring to residents and is proud to be the design builder of the new “community hub” for the Township of West Lincoln.
This new, 93,000-square-foot facility is advancing nicely with approximately 40 percent of construction complete. The completed facility will showcase many LEED™ components—LED lighting, a green wall, low plumbing fixtures and energy-efficient mechanical equipment, to name a few features. It was designed to meet LEED™ Silver requirements but the township opted not to seek certification but recognized the environmental significance of incorporating LEED™ components for the future sustainability of their facility.
Ball Construction continues to make progress in bringing this exciting vision to life and looks forward to handing over a state-of-the-art facility to the Township of West Lincoln to be enjoyed by young and old for many years to come.
