Ball’s Tim Poser Wins Prestigious Carpentry Award
Congratulates are in order to Ball Construction’s Tim Poser for placing first in the carpentry division of the 2018 Provincial Apprenticeship Contest. The competition was hosted by Local 2222 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) at Blue Mountain resort in Collingwood, from June19-21. Twenty-five contestants from union locals all across Ontario competed in the carpentry, drywall and floor covering trades.
The contest is open to any apprentice who has recently completed level 3 advanced carpentry or recently qualified journeypersons. It involves a written test and a practical project that must be constructed according to a scaled drawing. Tim was able to outperform 13 other carpenter apprentices.
An Afghanistan War veteran, Tim has worked for Ball for over three years. After serving in the military, he enrolled in Helmets to Hardhats, a program to help veterans transition from military life into the skilled trades.
After winning this award, Tim attended a gathering of the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (CDC) in Toronto, which included a meet-and-greet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
We are fortunate to have Tim as a dedicated and focused member of our Specialty Projects team. Keep up the championship work, Tim!
