Maple/Ball JV Achieves Milestone Concrete Pour at Hamilton’s WWTP
Phase Two of Hamilton’s Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) upgrade at 700 Woodward Avenue is proceeding on schedule. A joint venture between Maple Reinders and Ball Construction (Maple/Ball JV), the upgrade project is the largest investment within the City of Hamilton’s Clean Water Program. After relocating the engineering offices and constructing a new site entrance, Maple/Ball JV embarked on the second phase involving construction of a new main pumping station and inlet tunnel.
After completing excavation, preparations were made to start pouring the concrete base slab for the main pumping station. Round-the-clock activity started in the middle of the night and lasted until the end of the following day—representing a milestone pour with a total volume of concrete of over 2000m3.
Having achieved the first pour of the base slab, the concrete activity will be the main focus of the work for the next 6 to 8 months of this multi-phase, multi-year process.
