KW Titans School Day Game Attracts Record Crowd
On January 15, thousands of students from area schools filled Kitchener’s Memorial Auditorium for the second annual Titans School Day Game.
To conduct the ceremonial tip-off, the Titans welcomed John Bryant, director of education for Waterloo Region District School Board, Loretta Notten, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board’s director and Catholic school trustee, Brian Schmalz.
Despite leading by 10 points at one stage in the first quarter, the Titans unfortunately let the game slip away, succumbing to the Cape Breton Highlanders 112-89. Nevertheless, the packed crowd of kids remained enthusiastic throughout the event—with entertainment supplied by London Ontario’s Saidat, the award-winning motivational speaker, children’s entertainer and NBLC brand ambassador.
As a community outreach event, the day was a resounding success. Final attendance for the second annual event was 5,036. This is more than double the attendance from last year’s inaugural event and a new Titans attendance record.
