Ball Wins York U Neuroscience Facility Contract
Ball is delighted to have been awarded the construction management contract for a prestigious new Neuroscience facility at York University’s Keele Campus, in Toronto.
Designed by HDR Architects, the planned two-storey building will sit adjacent to the existing Sherman Health Science Research Centre. It will include wet laboratories, kinesiology and neuropsychology laboratories, research spaces and offices and a green roof. The project will aim for LEED v4 Silver Level certification.
Plans for exterior finishes include curtain wall glazing with various bird-friendly frit patterns, some sun shading, two tones of pre-finished metal panels, composite concrete panels and metal louvers. A lower-level corridor will serve as access to the Sherman Health Science building to the south, while pedestrian pathways will link the facility to the surrounding campus and Pioneer Village subway station.
Having constructed a large number of buildings within university settings throughout Ontario, Ball is well equipped to take on such an important institutional project. We look forward to working closely with HDR architects, York’s project committee and the project’s various skilled professionals.
The new facility is targeted for substantial completion by the summer of 2022.
