Breaking Ground This Fall
Peterborough, Ontario, will soon host a beautiful new arena. The centre will face Lansdowne Street, which is the city’s main road. From the overwhelmingly positive response from the community regarding the future arena, it is clear that the new facility will be used by many, daily and year-round. As the Construction Management team, Ball Construction is thrilled to bring such an impactful centre to the Peterborough community.
It was back in November of 2020, that the city council approved for Morrow Park to be the location for the new arena. It is now planned that in just 4 years from that initial approval, the community of Peterborough could see the doors open to their new facility.
The new arena will host twin pads, both of which offering a spectator viewing section. One of the rinks will as well feature an elevated walking track. The rinks will share a total of 12 team dressing rooms and 2 additional official rooms. The facility offers several additional amenities such as a team training center, a space to be leased by sporting groups, and 2 additional multipurpose rooms. There is as well a space allocated for the city office /administration /customer service staff. Additionally, there will be a concession stand, public washrooms, an elevator, and storage. The final part of phase one includes a library, bringing the square footage total to 116,600 ft2. It is hopeful that phase 2 and phase 3 will follow not long after, as both additional phases will bring more amenities to the community, such as a public pool.
Although the facility will be located on one of Peterborough’s main roads, there will be no fear of not finding a parking space as there will roughly be 475 parking spaces. The surrounding exterior of the building will look just as fantastic as the interior, as it will be beautifully landscaped.
Ball Construction aims to break ground in the Fall of this year. With excellent collaboration with Perkins&Will Architects, Ball is confident that the City of Peterborough will be impressed with their new facility.
