Ball Construction’s Safety BBQ: A Day of Celebration and Commitment
On a bright and sunny afternoon, the Ball Construction team gathered for an event that combined camaraderie, safety awareness, and delicious food. Our Safety BBQ was a resounding success, thanks to the presence of special guests Jeff MacIntyre and Mandy Bujold, from the Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA).
Celebrating Safety with the GVCA
Jeff MacIntyre and Mandy Bujold, both prominent figures in the GVCA, joined us for a delightful lunch. Their presence underscored the importance of community and collaboration in fostering a culture of safety within the construction industry. Mandy Bujold, an Olympian and safety advocate, shared her insights on the significance of small safety measures in preventing accidents and ensuring a secure work environment.
The Jersey of Courage
A highlight of the event was the signing of the Jersey of Courage from the League of Champions. This jersey symbolizes our unwavering commitment to safety and serves as a reminder of the collective effort required to maintain a safe workplace. Each signature on the jersey represents a pledge to uphold safety standards and look out for one another on the job.
Small Precautions, Big Impact
The discussions during the BBQ emphasized how seemingly small safety precautions can make a substantial difference. From wearing proper protective gear to adhering to safety protocols, these measures play a crucial role in preventing accidents and ensuring that everyone returns home safely at the end of the day.
Jeff MacIntyre highlighted the importance of ongoing safety training and the need for constant vigilance. He shared anecdotes and examples from his experience, illustrating how proactive safety measures can avert potential hazards. Mandy Bujold echoed these sentiments, drawing parallels between the discipline required in sports and the diligence needed in maintaining a safe work environment.
A Commitment to Safety
At Ball Construction, safety is not just a priority; it is a core value ingrained in our culture. The Safety BBQ was a testament to our commitment to this value. It was an opportunity to celebrate our achievements, reinforce our dedication to safety, and learn from esteemed experts in the field.
As we move forward, we carry with us the lessons and insights gained from this event. We remain steadfast in our mission to create a safe and secure workplace for all our team members. The Jersey of Courage, now adorned with new signatures, stands as a symbol of our collective resolve to prioritize safety in everything we do.
