JWC Cannabis Facility Retrofit Underway
A former auto parts plant is about to become a massive cannabis cultivation facility and Ball Construction is delighted to announce its role as construction manager.
James E. Wagner Cultivation (JWC) of Kitchener is the first cannabis licensee in Waterloo region and just the thirty-eighth one in Canada. The planned expansion of Kitchener’s former Lear building at Homer Watson Boulevard and Manitou Drive is well underway.
In order to retrofit the former auto parts plant and turn it in into a large-scale 345,000 square-foot growing operation, Ball is overseeing a number of expert subcontractors in the areas of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and security.
Ball first managed the pre-construction work, which was completed by a team of trades specialists in order to prepare the site. City building permits were then secured in July, and thermal panels have been installed and epoxy flooring laid down in the production areas.
Ball is working on this interesting project in consultation with architect Martin Simmons.
