KW Titans Wrap Up Break-Through Season
As majority shareholders of the KW Titans, Ball Construction is delighted with the professional basketball franchise’s progress this year. This included setting a franchise record 19 regular season wins, a first playoff series win and an attendance record. By any measure, the Titans’ 2018-19 season was a resounding success.
This season’s exciting post-season surge saw the team knock off two-time league champs, London Lightning, leading to an inaugural appearance in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) semi-finals, whereby they were eliminated by the St. John’s Edge in a hard-fought, 6-game battle.
Titan gate receipts at Kitchener’s Auditorium increased slightly over last year, with an average of 1,296 fans in attendance over the course of 20 home games—including an upsurge to 1,609 during the last six games—and a new Titans “School Day” attendance record of over 5,000.
Also of note, the NBLC made the following selections of key Titans players:
- Justin Strings named to the 2018/19 NBLC All-Rookie Team
- Veterans Ashton Smith and Tramar Sutherland named as second and third team All-Canadians.
- Forward Akeem Ellis named a third team all-star for the 2018/19 season
Without a doubt, the team is well positioned for its fourth year in the league and Ball looks forward to another exciting campaign in the 2019-20 season.
