Caledon East Community Complex Celebrates Their Grand Opening!
The Caledon East Community Complex (CECC), situated at 6215 Old Church Road, celebrated its grand opening on September 16, 2023.
The dedicated Ball Construction team were on hand to partake in the opening celebration. Thanks to the Ball Team for a great job on this exciting project!
Within the CECC, you’ll find the new Caledon East branch of the Caledon Public Library, dedicated to Cory Trépanier, equipped with a makerspace featuring advanced tools like 3D printers. This expansive facility boasts a well-lit ground floor corridor with a service desk and “Heather’s Kitchen” concession stand managed by a private vendor.
Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy a fully equipped fitness center with various weights, equipment, and cardio machines.
The CECC retains its two upgraded ice rinks, now visible from the main corridor, with second-floor seating accessible to all. There’s also a pro shop for skate sharpening.
Come wintertime, an outdoor rink and pavilion will be available behind the CECC.
A significant addition is a full-size gymnasium complete with basketball nets, a scoreboard, and versatile court lines for various sports, including basketball, pickleball, and volleyball. The gym can be divided as needed.
Above the gym, the second floor houses a walking/running track, providing a community asset year-round and a space for parents and caregivers during sports activities.
The CECC, with a size of nearly 146,000 square feet, stands as Caledon’s largest recreation center.
The second floor offers a fitness/aerobics room for diverse programs, including children’s dance classes, as well as a welcoming community lounge.
Adjacent to the lounge, a community room is available for rent, suitable for seminars or birthday parties.
One of the CECC’s most anticipated features is its 25-meter-long pool, offering lanes for swimming, accessibility, and a shallow area for beginners. This pool will be kept at a warmer temperature, facilitating therapeutic programs and heated using energy-efficient methods.
In summary, the CECC is an expansive and modern facility, featuring a library, fitness center, upgraded ice rinks, outdoor amenities, a gymnasium, walking/running track, community spaces, and a heated pool, making it a valuable addition to the community.
